Breakfast Brothers - Men’s Breakfast & Book Study GroupThe Breakfast Brothers is a group of men who meet Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m. for a lively discussion about books, articles, or issues the group decides to address. We enjoy the friendship of other men who are seeking to learn and stretch their faith with others who wish to do the same. Our participants are men of a variety of faith traditions, young bucks to grandpa’s, and from diverse vocational backgrounds. Our common denominator is being men who want to talk about life!
We currently meet at Angie’s Kitchen on Erb St. in Waterloo. The first time you come we’ll pay for your breakfast! Our current book is “Life Together, a discussion of Christian community” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer wrote this book as a reflection on leading a small underground seminary in Germany during the days of Nazi regime in Germany. It has many insights into the treasure and pitfalls of human spiritual community.
We try to stick to the following principles as we meet:
The Breakfast Brothers’ Menu
1) Meaningful Conversation
2) Subject: Books, Papers, Ideas, Issues of Interest chosen by the brothers. Occasionally someone may ask for conversation on a personal matter.
3) Leadership is shared by taking turns
4) Primary goal is personal growth
5) Local Church Politics is avoided
6) Maintain confidentially out of respect.
Have a good breakfast and make deep friendships! Please contact the church for more information.

Bell ChoirBell Choir typically meets between the Labour Day Weekend and the Victoria Day Weekend. The choir learns many different songs and hymns for the special seasons of the church year like Christmas and Easter. Bell choir members learn and know that it takes a whole community to work together, each with their own part and notes to play, to make beautiful music for our Lord. Contact the music director for meeting times.
St. John's ChoirThe Choir practices on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. between Labour Day until the Victoria Day weekend. If anyone would like to join our group in September please speak our music director. He is always looking for new voices to compliment those already serving God in this ministry. Thanks to all our talented and dedicated singers.
Seniors 60 PlusSeptember through June, on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, the seniors of our 60 Plus group have lunch and a program of education or entertainment. Lunch is served at 12:30. This is a chance for community seniors to enjoy good fellowship and food, which always go hand in hand in St. John's gatherings. Tickets are required in order to attend the dinner each month, and must be purchased 1 week ahead of time. Contact the church office at 519-886-1880. Cost is only $7.00 per person for a full course hot meal.
LWS – Lutheran Women of St. John’sThe LWS is a group of dedicated ladies who meet for fellowship, bible study, and food (this is a recurring theme in most of our gatherings in the Lutheran Church). The ladies also serve the church community by serving lunches after funerals and giving donations to many causes. Twice a year they have Christian Action Days where they put together various bundles/kits for CLWR (Canadian Lutheran World Relief).
Ladies Quilting GroupAn off-shoot of the LWS is the Ladies Quilting Group who hand sew quilts commissioned by others and knot quilts to give away whenever the need arises (quite often to CLWR).
